October is Women’s History Month, a time to recognize the women who have shaped Canada and those making a difference in our communities today.
Across generations, women have challenged discrimination, advanced science and education, built businesses and led movements for change. Their efforts opened doors for others, often in the face of barriers that should never have existed.
This year marks 50 years since the creation of Status of Women Canada. That milestone is an opportunity to reflect on the progress made and the women whose determination helped make it possible.
There is still work to do to ensure women can build businesses, earn a living, lead and live safely. Our government is supporting women entrepreneurs and investing in programs that advance equality and prevent gender-based violence.
